My scratchboards originals are all hand rendered on a Masonite board covered in white clay and black ink. I use sharp tools to scratch through the black top coat into the white to create the image. The white clay peeking out of the black ink is the rendered image. Sometimes I use colored ink after scratching for enhancement.
